Yes and no. Depending on what type of media, some people are influenced more than others.
Some people believe that the media (advertising, commercials, tv, magazines, music, ect.) can cause people, especially teenage girls, to become anorexic because it promotes "thin is good". Many models look beautiful, and almost every ad out there is photo touched to make it look perfect. If someone tries to emulate this, and tries to become "perfect", then they might become anorexic to try and become thin and do what they think will make them "more beautiful and perfect". Often, media and advertising tends to promote being thin.
Many young girls, because of what they see in the media, will become anorexic or bulimic in an attempt to reach a false "perfect" weight that is portrayed by the media, for instance by models and celebrities.
women are sexy when they are anorexic
Why do teenagers become anorexic? ************** They become anorexic because there is so much pressure in the media to become thin and, because they have grown up looking at the same body, (as we all do) they can't see that they are constantly changing. Even when they are so skinny they are almost invisible they still think they are fat. Teenagers are also still developingand their hormones are at their worst so they are almost constanly picking out their worst bits, even if there's nothing wrong with them. It doesn't help that there are so many Size 0 people around the world now that it's almost th only thing that we ever see, and they are promoted as healthy and perfect bodies.
Because of this media people become more social being but in a different form.
Well there is a lot of reasons why someone would become anorexic. It is a mental disease and it has a lot to do with what they see in the mirror, clearly they don't like themselves and think they will like themselves feel better if they lost weight they are miserable. I know when I started I had very low self-esteem and I thought by doing that I will get more confidence and I was also having a lot of family issues. Anyways anorexia has to do with "control" and low self-esteem, the media, past abuse, depression...ect. Sometimes when someone becomes anorexic it has nothing to do with losing weight. It is a very complicated disease.

There is no exact one cause of anorexia. Some causes are... * Dieting gone too far or out of control * Depression, BDD (Body Dismorphic Disorder), distorted body image, OCD or "perfectionist" problems * Media portrayal of "thin is good", peer pressure (some dispute these, though) * Genetics / Biological (if your parent was anorexic, there is a higher chance you might become anorexic, too) * Insecurities about one's body * Stressful lives, people thinking that food is the only thing they can "control"
Less teasing can give teens a better self-image and have them feel better about themselevs and their bodies. Some believe the media is at fault, and chanegs in advertsising / modeling can causes less people (particurly girls) to become anorexic. If teens stopped trying to be ecatly like a role model, that can also reduce future cases of anorexia.
