The Megaladapis is extinct.
The Megaladapis, or koala lemur, lived in Madagascar until humans destroyed their habitat and wiped them out. The last confirmed sighting of a koala lemur was well over 500 years ago.
They would have made a substantial contribution to scientific study, because their arms, fingers, toes and feet were incredibly similar to those of the koala bear. Despite not only being on opposite ends of the world, but that one was a lemur and the other is a marsupial, completely different species. Yet with very similar skeletal parts. Their extinction is a massive loss to both the animal kingdom and to science.
The shark, Megladon, is an extinct species.
During the start of the most famous ice age, the whales that megaladon preyed on migrated to colder water, where megaladon couldn't follow. It went extinct due to lack of food.
