The awesom hot sun
the photosphere appears black when it is blocked out by the moon during a eclipse
Solar Eclipse: There is a new moon. The sun is blocked out by the moon for some time. Lunar Eclipse: There is a full moon the night of a lunar eclipse. The reflective light of the moon is blocked by the Earth.
The new moon is visible once a month when the moon is blocked by the Earth's shadow

They are alike because they both cast shadows. A lunar eclipse is when the moon is blocked by the sun while a solar eclipse is when the sun is blocked by the moon.
In a solar eclipse, the moon comes between the sun and the earth so that the sun is blocked out. A lunar eclipse is when the earth comes in between the moon and the sun so that the moon is blocked out.
That is known as a solar eclipse
When the sun is blocked of from the earth by the moon. Only people that are directly under the moon can see it perfectly.
The two parts of the moon's shadow are the umbra, which is the dark central region where light is completely blocked, and the penumbra, which is the lighter outer region where only partial light is blocked.
This is a solar eclipse. From Earth it would look as if the Sun is being blocked out by the Moon.
This is where the earth and moon line up so that the earth falls directly between the sun and moon. The sun's light is blocked from hitting the moon making the moon vanish from sight temporarily.
As the moon rotates around the earth the sun reflects off of the moon at different angles(as it may be blocked by the earth). The moon's glow, remember, is only a reflection of the sun's shine.
