Is the new dragon rider in the inheritence series going to be bad?

Probably not. The last dragon egg is green and is currently in the possession of Galbatorix. There are a couple possibilites:

1. Eragon and crew somehow steal/come into possession of the egg and it hatches to one of the main characters. If so, then the likeliest candidate is Arya, followed by Roran.

Arya is likelier to become the next rider than Roran because becoming a rider would make Roran immortal, outliving Katrina. Paolini probably wouldn't create such a sad ending for Roran. There are other reasons, but I'm too lazy.

2. Some random thief steals it and becomes the next rider. He is then hunted by the Varden and the Empire to recruit him. This is unlikely as the egg has been under heavy guard ever since Saphira's egg was stolen, and this would take up a very large portion of the final book.

3. Galbatorix finds the rider to the egg, but the rider somehow escapes. This is unlikely as Galbatorix is very powerful and would be more than capable of overpowering someone as he has even forced Murtagh to his will.

4. Galbatorix finds the rider to the egg and forces him to his will.

5. The egg is not hatched until years after Eragon's victory over Galbatorix, and is given to the first new Dragon Rider of the new age.
