Those are important parts of the science process, but not the only parts. There are such things as publication and peer review, and Nobel Prize awards, lucrative patents, and science popularization books and TV shows. There is a distinction between hypothesis and theory, so those are actually two separate phases of the scientific method, and then there is confirmation of a theory as well.

Formulating a hypothesis
1. Observing- is the use of one or more of the fie senses to perceive objects or events 2 Measuring- is the process of determining numbers . 3. Hypothesis- is the process of forming testable statements about observable phenomena . 4. Predicting- is stating in advance the results that will be obtained from testing a hypothesis . 5. Experimenting- testing a hypothesis or prediction using various procedures 6. Analyzing Data- is the process of determining whether or not the data is reliable and whether or not it supports a given prediction or hypothesis. 7. Inferring- making a good guess based on a situation. 8. Classification- classifying the objects.
1. Observing 2.Hypothesizing and Predicting. 3. Experimenting. 4.Organizing and Analyzing Data. 5. Drawing conclusions. 6. Repeating Experiments.
You would test your hypothesis by predicting what the results of your experiment will be so it's like a type of prediction. Another way is what do you think the outcome will be.
with the alternative hypothesis the reasearcher is predicting
Basically you are predicting
Hypothesis mean a smart guess by logic and reasoning; hypothesis are predicting in doing experiment.
