It is governed by your pay grade E1-E9 which is the same for any military branch. How fast you move up in rank makes a difference as well. Because you will earn more the higher your pay grade.
I think it is great pay I was in the Army the pay is good because your food and living expenses are minimal as long as you stay on base to eat and shop.
