Yes, Red Squirrels prefer to live among the branches of trees, however, they're being pushed out of their habitats by Grey Squirrels, as the Greys digestive system can process a more diverse source of foods, their systems can digest foods that have a high tannin content, whereas the Red Squirrel is limited to low tannin sources of foods, plus the Grey Squirrel carries a disease that doesn't affect it, but is deadly to the Red Squirrel population if contracted.
