It was. The Logo was started and painted by the Signpainters at the NYC DOT Sign Shop each year right from the beginning. We would hand paint it 3 or 4 nights in a row right up until the morning of the parade. Lots of work, but fun too. People were amazed to see us DOT employees doing such an elaborate job as this. What was nice is that with paint it stayed there all year round.
It is now a temporary vinyl type printing installed on the ground by a private company. It is removed after the parade.
