I do not believe any Christian branch uses the 'shamrock' for official teachings. There is a legend that 'St. Patrick' used it in the fields of Ireland to help explain the trinity concept to the local druids/pagans.

Why are Catholic Churches more rich and posh than a protestant church?

Catholic Churches are built for one reason, and one reason only, to give greater glory to God, and to be a worthy home for Him, especially in the Eucharist, which is reserved in every Catholic Church. Protestant churches do not have Jesus in the Eucharist and thus are no more than meeting houses where people gather for prayer, the entire orientation is different.

Can you be excommunicated for visiting other churches?

You cannot be excommunicated for simply visiting another non-Catholic Church. However, you could excommunicate yourself if you go to a non-Catholic service rather than Sunday mass or were you to receive communion in a non-Catholic Church.

Why is protestant one main belief of Christianity?

Protestantism is a sect (denomination) of Christianity that tries to demphasize the rituals that the Catholic denomination emphasizes. Keep in mind, this is not unorthodox; Protestant churches are just more simple than Catholic churches.

If Catholics married in churches other than Catholic churches were their children considered illegitimate?

Nope. Catholics get married in other churches all the time. All a Catholic needs is a special blessing or permission from his or her pastor to marry in another church. Even if the Catholic did not receive the permission, and thus commits a pretty serious sin, the sin can be forgiven. Either way, the marriage is still raised to the supernatural level if both spouses are baptized Christians. Sin doesn't stop God's will from being done, ever. In fact, God tends to work with it as best He can.

How many types of catholics are there?

It depends a little on what is meant by the question... The Catholic Church is a communion of 23 distinct but united churches: Roman (or Latin), Ruthenian, Ukrainian, Maronite, Armenian, Coptic, etc. More broadly, other churches that are not Catholic can be described as catholic (as an adjective, rather than part of their name), such as the Orthodox, the Anglicans, the Lutherans. Finally there are countless of small independent groups that use the name catholic in their title that have nothing to do with the Catholic Church.

Who does the voice in the Shamrock Cow commercials?

Do Protestants consider themselves to be better than Catholics?

Well that would depend on who you ask. Some Protestants would consider themselves to be better than Catholics but other Protestants would not. That said, most Protestant churches do believe that their doctrines are better than the doctrines of the Catholic Church. In other words, some Protestants believe that their doctrine is true but the Catholic Church's same doctrine on said topic is false incorrect in a not totally false way so in one sense, some Protestant churches do believe that they are better than Catholic churches but when it comes to individual Protestants versus individual Catholics, it varies from person to person.

What did Protestantism do or mean?

This refers to Churches which emerged directly or indirectly from the Protestant Reformation and generally constitute traditional Protestantism. In common usage the term is used to refer to any Christian church other than the Catholic Church or the Eastern Orthodox Church. There are non-Roman Catholic and non-Eastern Orthodox churches which predate the Reformation. Protestants often refer to specific Protestant churches and groups as denominations. They are differently named parts of the whole reformation "church", as Protestants reject the Catholic doctrine of the Catholic Church. . There are many independent, non-aligned or non-denominational congregations outside Catholicism.

What is the name of the statue in a Catholic church?

There are often many statutes in Catholic churches and there don't need to be any. They don't have a particular name. For example, a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Sometimes 2-dimensional representations of saints are present. These are called icons. These are more common in Eastern Catholic and Orthodox churches than Roman Catholic churches but you sometimes find icons in Roman churches too.
