Answer: A bit of background: The white light from the sun is a mixture of all colours of the spectrum. Each colour of light ahas a wavelengths. The visible part of the spectrum ranges from red light (wavelength =720 nm), to violet (wavelength =380 nm), with orange, yellow, green, blue and indigo between. The human eye reacts most strongly to strongly to red, green and blue wavelengths. This gives us colour vision. The explanation:Light passing through a clear fluid with suspended particles is scattered. Some wavelengths like blue are scattered more strongly. The first person to notice this and experiment with it was John Tyndall in 1859. So he got to mane the effect the Tyndall Effect. He made three important observations: * From the side, (the way we see most of the sunlight in the sky) the beam can be seen by the blue light it scatters * The light seen directly at the end (looking towards the source) is red. This is the way we see the sunlight at sunset

* The scattered light is polarized. This is why polarized sun glasses make some parts of the sky seem darker.

Some early researchers (Tyndall and Rayleigh) thought that the blue colour of the sky must be due to small particles of dust and droplets of water vapour in the sky. Later scientist discounted this and proposed that oxygen and nitrogen molecules are the cause of the scattering.

In 1911 Einstein did the math to prove that the molecules could cause the scattering. Technically the molecules scatter light because the electromagnetic field of the light waves induces electric dipole moments in the O2 and N2 molecules. == ==

Why is the sky blue on earth during day time and black in there moon?

the water in our planet reflects the sun light back to the atmosphere thus we have a blue sky the moon has no water and no atmosphere there for no blue sky during the day in the moon.

Colour of clear sky?

A light blue during day.

Why do you think the light in the sky appears blue during the day but organge during sunset?

The sky is blue because of Rayleigh scattering. The sunset is so colorful due to the air.

Why does the sky look blue and the sun look yellow during the day?

it's because it just does

Explain why the sky is blue during the day?

The sky is blue because air scatters blue light more than it scatters red light. So, when you look up at the sky (the sky, not the sun) you are looking at a portion of air. That air has scattered blue light so blue light is what enters your eyes.

Why sky appears blue in mid day?

The sky appears blue due to the scattering of light in the sky. During hot days the sky is not only very clear but hot air around a place helps to see the sky distinctly blue.

Why does the moon not have a beautiful blue sky during the day?

1. Because it orbits the earth 2. Because the blue sky is from wind that is surprisingly blue when its in huge chunks 3. Because There is no wind on the moon whatsoever

Why does the sky look blue during the day?

d wave length of violet colour is more than d wavelength of blue colour

What color is the sky during the day's?

the sky in the day's are usually Blue. if its any other color its usually not natural, for the sky to be green, white, or brown. yes it could be yellow, orange, purple, or pink because of a sunset.

Why sky looks blue in daytime and black in nighttime?

during day: when light comes , the blue colour is scattererd the most(rayleigh's law) as it has the least wavelength. so sky is blue in day time. in night there is no light so scattering so as a result black in colour.

Where does the moon go when it is day?

The moon is not seen during the day because the bright blue sky washes out the relatively dim light of the moon.

Why are sky is white?

The sky usually appears blue during the day because of the scattering of sunlight by the Earth's atmosphere. However, sometimes the sky can appear white during overcast or cloudy conditions, when the sunlight is blocked or diffused by the clouds, causing the light to scatter in all directions and making the sky appear white.
