Why do you have urinary frequency during pregnancy?
The urinary bladder (where urine is stored in your body) lies in front of the uterus in the pelvic cavity, which is surrounded by bones from all sides. As you know, the uterus starts to enlarge after pregnancy and it starts to press on the urinary bladder, making its capacity less than normal. So it fills up early. Otherwise also the length of the urethra in females is very short, making it difficult to hold urine for a longer duration. (Simple Physics!) To add to this hormonal changes, the mixed feelings of happiness of getting pregnant and anxiety associated with impending delivery may be additional factors.

Yes. The pelvic floor muscles form a sling between your legs. They stretch from the pubic bone at the front of your body to the base of your spine at the back. They help to hold your bladder, uterus (womb- where the baby is) and bowel in place. These muscles also give you control over when you empty your bladder or move your bowels. When pregnant hormones make these muscles stretch and resulting in some urinary incontinence when coughing or sneezing. So it is beneficial to do pelvic floor exercises regularly, especially when pregnant.
