In small doses, it is not toxic at all.

Having a bath in it is perfectly safe.

The percentage of salt in the Dead Sea is very high though. This would make it almost undrinkable to most creatures, including man. If forcing yourself to drink too much of it, then this could be deadly.

When the body get too much salt, then the kidneys work overtime trying to get rid of this excessive salt. Kidney failure can be the result.

The water from the Dead Sea will sting quite a bit in eyes. Sort of a blinding pain in eyes.

It will also sting in open sores and where the skin is not as it should be as in places of psoriasis.

It does a good job of rinsing sores though. It kills off germs and skin parasites like a thrill if you keep soaked for long enough. As the moisture inside bacteria and parasites is not as salty as the water, the effect of osmosis will force the fresh water out of them and they mostly die off.

Our skin however (on most of us) provide an excellent barrier and protect us from this and we actually benefit from a swim or a soak in such water.

How does chlorine disinfect water?

Chlorine is used to disinfect water, both for drinking and other uses, because it is toxic to the bacteria and other microscopic creatures that live in it. (Of course, it is also toxic to humans, but the amount used to treat water is usually not harmful, although some experts recommend leaving water out to "breathe" for a few minutes before drinking it to allow any excess chlorine gas to escape.)

What animal has to be taught how to swim?

Humans and chimps are the only mammals that have to be taught how to swim. All other mammals are natural swimmers. Most amphibians can swim, and some reptiles, but reptiles like to be kept dry. Only some birds can swim. Pelacans, Segals, and other birds around water can sit on top of the water, but I think segals can dive under water for food.
