Yes in most cases it is (Common salt or sodium chloride) only in a much lower concentration then found in sea water. There is a new system on the market however that uses Magnesium and potassium chloride.

How do you get rid of water boatmen and backswimmers in a saltwater pool I have read where BioGuard works wonders for chlorinated pools but does it work for saltwater If not what does?

Salt water pools are in fact chlorine pools part of the salt is turned into chlorine by the salt water chlorinater If it works in a normally chlorinated pool it should also work in a salt water pool. However you should check if there is any metallic ingredient like copper in it as these are not recommended in salt water pools.

What are the major benefits of salt water pools over chlorinated ones?

== == SALT WATER POOLS ARE CHLORINATED POOLS. The difference is that the chlorine is added or manufactured automatically -- you do not have to physically add chlorine by hand daily or weekly. You also get a more even distribution of that chemical being added. However, you do have to monitor and maintain your equipment and test the chemicals periodically -- at minimum - weekly because of other chemical factors in water balance. k== == Salt water pools are also chlorinated pools. The chlorinator converts the salt into chlorine and keeps the levels at a constant. The benefit is that you don't have to keep adding chemicals like a traditional pool. We installed a salt pool four months ago and love it. Once you get the levels of salt right it is virtually maintenance free.

Can you add salt to a liquid chlorinated pool We've just had a pool installed with a liquid chlorine system and the installers mistakenly filled it with salt They are telling us it will be OK?

Yes You can. As a matter of fact the salt will actually make the water feel better to swim in. In a salt water pool the concentration of salt is about the same as that you would find in tear drops, this makes the water easier on the eyes. Salt water pools are in fact chlorinated pools where the salt in the water is run through a chlorinator that produces the chlorine electronically. So there is nothing to worry about.

What are the major benefits of salt water pools over chlorinated ones if you suffer from psoriasis and research suggests that it would be better to have a salt water pool?

For one reason, saltwater pools use a special salt to keep your pool clean without the irritating burn of chlorinated pool water that you accidentally get in your eyes sometimes. Another reason is that the water does not give off a horrid strong smell like chlorine. Salt water pools are chlorine pool the difference is that the salt in the pool is electronically treated to release chlorine. Traditionally sodium chloride Common salt is used in salt water pools. However a less environmentally harmful alternative is now becoming available in magnesium chloride/sodium chloride which feels even better to skinn in and is good for the surrounding plants. You don't have to wear goggle's because it is chlorene free!

Does sharks like chlorine?

No, sharks do not like or tolerate chlorine well. Chlorine is toxic to sharks and can harm them if they are exposed to it in high concentrations, such as in chlorinated water in swimming pools. Sharks are marine animals that are sensitive to changes in their environment and do not have the ability to regulate their exposure to chlorine.

Do children like salt water swimming pools?

no

Does a salt water pool attract more wild animals than a chlorinated pool?

I'm in the pool service business and maintain both salt water and traditional pools in the Las Vegas Valley. While there are not many wild animals in the city, I have not noticed any difference in the number of "urban" critters (i.e. birds, bugs, dogs, cats, squirrels, etc) visiting my salt water pools versus my traditional pools. A: a salt water pool are one and the same. The only difference is that the chlorine is made in the pool the other is that the chlorine is added by hand - - - manually.

Do rubber ducks float higher on salt water fresh water or chlorinated water?

Rubber ducks will float higher in saltwater compared to freshwater or chlorinated water due to the increased density of saltwater. Saltwater is denser than freshwater and chlorinated water, providing more buoyancy to objects like rubber ducks.
