Not exactly -- they are inversely proportional to each other.

In other words, if the wavelength of UV rays increases, then their frequency decreases -- and vice versa.

Which variable is directly proportional to frequency?

Frequency, when referring to waves, is directly proportional to the velocity of the wave. Frequency in inversely proportional to the wavelength.

How are the wavelenght and energy of a photon related?

The energy of a photon is directly proportional to the frequency. Since the frequency is inversely proportional to the wavelength, the energy, too, is inversely proportional to the wavelength.

How is the relationship between the frequency and the wavelength of electromagnetic energy?

Frequency is inversely proportional to wavelength (higher frequency means a shorter wavelength). Frequency is directly proportional to the energy of the wave (higher frequencies correspond to higher energies).

Is frequency directly inversely equal or have no bearing on wavelength?

Frequency and wavelength are inversely proportional. Their product is always the speed of the wave;it doesn't change, regardless of the frequency/wavelength.

What is the relationship between wavelength of light and the quantity of energy per photon?

The energy per photon is directly proportional to the frequency; the frequency is inversely proportional to the wavelength (since frequency x wavelength = speed of light, which is constant); thus, the energy per photon is inversely proportional to the wavelength.

Describe how the frequency of a wave changes as the wavelength changes?

it is directly proportional to frequency so if frequency increases wavelength also increases

Does the frequency is inversely proportional to wavelength?

Yes. The wavelength times the frequency is equal to the speed of the wave - and the speed is usually almost the same for different frequencies.

What is the relationship of wavelength and energy in a wave?

Depends on the wave. In electromagnetic waves, a shorter wavelength means a higher frequency - and the energy of a photon is directly proportional to frequency.

Why is radiation with the shortest wavelength actually the most powerful?

I assume you are talking about electromagnetic radiation. If the wavelength is shorter, the frequency is larger. And the energy per photon is directly proportional to the frequency.

Is temperature directly proportional to frequency?

Temperature is only sometimes directly proportional to frequency. Temperature however is not always directly proportional to frequency in all cases.

Waves with the longest wavelengths have the lowest frequencies true of false?

Trick question. Wavelength is not directly or indirectly proportional to frequency.

What is the energy in a photon of light proportional to?

The amount of energy in a photon of light is proportional to the frequency of the corresponding light wave.... frequency of the electromagnetic radiation of which the photon is a particle.
