There is always a tiny, tiny chance that the universe would send something nasty our way, but the risk of that isn't any greater on Dec 2012 than on any other time.

The reason why 2012 has been singled out is that there's an old Mayan calendar that ended at 2012. The way they counted, that made a nice number to stop at.

What most people don't seem to realize is that most calendars do stop - but only to start right over again.

Our calendars stop at December 31st every year, but we don't worry about that much.
