The Attitude Era was a time in the WWF (now WWE) that was believed to have started as a result of Monday Night Wars around 1996, after "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's famed "Austin 3:16" speech after defeating Jake Roberts at King of the Ring. It was known to be the more inappropriate part of WWF/E directed towards young adults and consisting of hardcore matches, blood, swearing, sexual themes, and potty humor. It ended around 2001-2002, when WWF changed it's name to WWE after a lawsuit by the World Wildlife Fund.
