A Disney spokesperson confirmed on February 4, 2009 that the Disney Channel Games will not be held in 2009, but there will be a "new charitable initiative" that will involve Disney Channel and Disney XD stars. A Disney Channel executive stated earlier that the busy schedule of the stars may make it difficult for the games to be held. Disney Channel announced that the "major pro-social initiative" will be Disney's Friends for Change, a year-long campaign that "draws on how Disney stars connect with young fans". Kids can vote to determine where Disney will donate $1 million to environmental causes.
