Immigrants to NYC remained there and helped fuel the manufacturing sector of NYC. On the other hand, Boston's Puritan heritage carried with it a major disadvantage. NYC had more tolerance for immigrant workers. NYC was not biased towards immigrants as Boston was. This created fewer obstacles against Jewish and Catholic immigrants in NYC.
