The majority of Stephen King's stories are set in Maine, because Maine is Stephen King's home state.
Almost the entire book (and movie) is set inside the home of Annie Wilkes, who lives in Sidewinder, Colorado.
Some Stephen King books and movies that do not take place in Maine include "The Shining" (set in Colorado), "Doctor Sleep" (set in various locations), "Misery" (set in Colorado), and "The Dark Tower" series (set in a fantasy world with connections to other Stephen King works).
The Stand
Rockport is a fictional town set in Maine that does not appear in any Stephen King novel.

If it is a fictional town, how on earth would anyone know if it didn't appear in a novel?
Both the novel and movie are set in the town of Sidewinder, Colorado.
While Stephen King's novels are often set in Maine, "The Green Mile" is actually set in Louisiana, not Maine. The Cold Mountain Penitentiary is a fictional prison in Louisiana that serves as the primary setting for the story.
The book "Kira-Kira" by Cynthia Kadohata is set in the 1950s and early 1960s in Georgia, USA.
No official information has been released in regards to the release date for the remake of "It".
There is really no set order that you must read them in, unless you are starting with the dark tower series. A good choice in my opinion would be The Stand (one of his longest single books) or my all time favorite, The Long Walk.
