iMovie and Final Cut Express are applications created by Apple for their Macintosh range of computers and are not available for computers running the Windows operating system.

Depending on how the avi files are encoded, you can probably just drag them into the iMovie library. iMovie will then automatically convert them (this may take quite a while depending on the speed of your machine). Once the clips are imported you can use iMovie to create your production. When you are finished, you can use iDVD to burn your final product.

To avoid rendering issues when importing iMovie projects into Final Cut Express, export your iMovie project as an Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) or QuickTime movie file. This format maintains higher quality and compatibility, facilitating smoother integration. Additionally, ensure the resolution and frame rate match your Final Cut Express project settings for optimal performance.
