No. Currently Fiji is governed by a care-taker interim military based government. It is now called The Republic of the Fiji Islands starting from the point when the President of Fiji abrogate and wipe the 1997 Fiji Constitution out. The PER- Public Emergency Regulation keeps people away and to stop them practising their freedom of assembly, speech and communication. Fiji is a Republic not a Democratic country.
Fiji gained Indepandence from Britain in October 10th, 1970. Fiji achieved this by telling Britain that they are able to stand on their own feet. And so wish was granted. No arguments, disatisfaction, fight or whatsoever came in between.
There is no problem with the Fiji Government. COmmodore Frank Bainimarama took over the Qara-se governmnet because of corruption,lies and discrimination. Commodore Bainimarama is the interim PM of the Fiji Islands. Election will take place once a new constitution is in place for the betterment of all Fijians.
In 2006 the Fiji Military Forces stormed the parliment and ousted the democratically elected government out. Since 2006 The Constitution of the Republic of the Fiji Islands have been removed and placed by military decrees. There is no freedom of Information in Fiji - every media like tv, radio, newspaper and magazine are monitored through the Ministry of Information Fiji. There are no freedom of protest, gatherings and the like since 2006. Other bad things about fiji communally include:- teenage pregnancy school drop outs poverty crime and the likes.

Technically the Banaban people on Rabi Island still have legal and landownership rights over Banaba Island Under Chapter 9 of Kiribati Constitution even if they do reside in Fiji.
