Matthew 15:24: "But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Here, Jesus is explaining his unwillingness to help someone who is not a Jew, in this case, the Canaanite woman who sought help for her daughter.
Mark 16:15: " And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Here Jesus takes a contradictory view.
Scholars say that the author of Matthew's Gospel did rely on Mark's Gospel for his information about the life and mission of Jesus, but could not have known about any of the material in Mark 16:9-25 (the "Long Ending") because this was not added until long after the gospels were first written. Matthew could not have known that there was a contradiction. In fact, Matthew 15:22-28, the passage that includes Matthew 15:24, has its original in Mark 7:25-30.
