I personally don't know of any treatment that is guaranteed to work for a swim bladder problem. There are some proprietory medications available in some pet shops. Maybe one of those can help.
It most likely means that he/she is sick because that is what happened to my betta fish. make sure you don't overfeed your betta fish because it can lead to constipation and that will cause trouble for the betta fish
If your betta is swimming sideways the cause is probably intestinal gas/constipation or swim bladder disorder. Both can be caused by overfeeding or not giving your betta a varied diet. Try feeding your betta green peas which have been removed from the shell and broken up. This acts as a laxative and will help relieve your fish of constipation. If your betta is not eating, you can try fasting it for a day or two. Sometimes a couple of days of not feeding the fish will help the problem pass. Once you have fasted the betta, try feeding it a pea again.
A swim bladder is an organ in certain fish to help them stay buoyant. Examples of fish with a swim bladder are goldfish, betta fish, and chiclids. It works something like the lungs of mammals. Since it is an organ, it cannot spread to other fish.
There are some. I believe your beta fish's tail is torn because of fin rot. There is a cure for that in pet stores.

Well, if you love your Betta fish, then it should live by itself. But if you add another Betta to your current Betta fish's tank, then they will start a fight because Betta Fish are Siamese fighting fish and if one Betta is in contact of another Betta, the possible reason would be a fight between them two.
A betta is a fish of the species Betta, especially Betta splendens, commonly known as the Siamese fighting fish.
