The only answer to this question is another question.

And the answer to that is your answer,

Do you want him to exist?

Different Religions and Satan
  • Christians believe he does, Satan was a fallen angel.
  • Jews don't - to them, Satan is not a devil,it is simply the inclination to do evil, people are responsible for their own actions.
  • Atheists say, "No" - the devil does not exist.
  • Islam believes in Satan (Iblis, Shaytan) The Qur'an explains that his fall from grace is due to his refusal to obey Allah and bow to Adam.
Additional Input:
  • Is there evil, yes, then the devil is real and will keep destroying souls until you follow the right path.
  • Atheists believe too, because they always search for answers like you are doing now.
  • Many say Yes, some say no.
  • That is a matter of opinion. If you believe god exists, then the devil goes hand in hand with that belief.
  • Although fact is generally substantiated with proof, and "faith" does not replace proof.. So if you are looking for a factually accurate answer then no, the devil does not exist.
  • Everybody has different opinions. Not everybody has the same religion therefore some people believe in the devil and some don't. However there is no proof he exists so it really is up to what you believe.
  • OF COURSE THERE IS. The Bible predicts things that happened and it came true. The devil is all around us. I mean why else would Save sick men be raping and molesting 7 year olds?

Answer 1:

Some people think there is, some people think there isn't. Nobody knows for sure because there's no proof.

Answer 2:

Whilst there is no physical proof for the existence of the devil, Bible-believing Christians believe in the reality of both the devil and demons.

Answer 3:

If there is a Jesus Christ, then there is a Satan... because Jesus talk (s; ed) with him:

"'GET OUT OF HERE, SATAN... 'For the Scriptures say, ''You must worship the LORD your God; serve only Him.'" (Matt.4:10 NLT New Living Translation)

And Jesus tells us:

"...'I SAW SATAN falling from heaven as a flash of lightning!'" (Luke 10:18 NLT)

So, the trick to "knowing" if there is a Devil, is to "believe" what Jesus Christ SAYS... because according to Him, the Words that His Father gave to Him to speak to us is: THE TRUTH! [John 17:17]

But Truth is funny that way -- not everyone believes it. So, if people don't believe the Truth... then they believe in lies, which is the Devil's realm; deception [Rev.12:9]:

"...you are the children of your father the Devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning and has always HATED THE TRUTH. THERE IS NO TRUTH IN HIM. When he LIES, it is consistent with his character; for HE IS A LIAR and THE FATHER OF LIES." (John 8:44 NLT)

So, to acknowledge that there is a Devil, is also to acknowledge Jesus Christ. And "believing" in both of them doesn't mean a whole lot, either, unless you're able to define in your heart what it is that you're believing about them. For instance, if Jesus SAW Satan... then Satan has seen Jesus, too: and HE BELIEVES IN JESUS!

"Do you still think it's enough just to BELIEVE there is one God? Well, even the DEMONS BELIEVE THIS, and THEY TREMBLE IN TERROR! (James 2:19 NLT)

So, you see, both Jesus and the Devil "believe" in each other... in this case; that each one exists. But then, of course, if the modern re-writers of history have their way... then Jesus was; 1) genuinely mistaken about everything or a pathological liar... or; 2) "He never existed." In which case, there is neither a Devil nor a Christ.

No. GOD says to worship Him, alone.

Additional Comments:

Whoever doesn't believe the devil is real should try opposing him and see how real the devil becomes.

Nobody is disputing that the Bible commands us to worship GOD alone. The original question is "Do you believe in the devil?" That is not the same "believe in" as "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." Many people today do not believe that the devil is a real existing being, but rather that the devil is a human invention to personify evil. A person may not believe you are a real person, but that nonetheless doesn't mean that you're not real. That is the way this question was interpreted and answered. Sorry for the confusion.

Another View:

Yes. Whoever doesn't believe the devil is real should try opposing him and see how real the devil becomes.

Biblical Answer:

Yes, as the Scripture tells us of him. If by devil you are referring to 'ha Satan' or the Adversary, then Jesus, Himself was tempted by the devil (see both Matthew 4 and Luke 4) and spoke about Him throughout the Gospels and Revlation in particular. The more 'popular' verse concerning the devil, aka Satan is found in Luke 10:18, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.' (NIV).

Answer: Yes there is. That devil is named Satan, and his demons. They try to blind people into thinking there not real, or that they aren't powerful. But the truth is that they are just as real now as ever, and they are very powerful. But if you have Jesus in your heart you need not fear anything, expetially if your following God. Can't you ever feel evil when your around something? If you can't watch for that feeling and know that Satan and his demons are real. 'Answer' No Yes A Pagan Perspective Devils, are a construct of other spiritual paths, we do not believe in them.

Early Christianity used the images of our horned gods as their "blue-print" for devils, in an attempt to vilify the old pagan gods. This is not to say we do not believe in, nor recognise the existence of evil.

Negativity, and evil exist in this world, and throughout the universe, but it does not come in the form of a horned humanoid.

We believe that each of us have the choice of doing good or ill, and that there is no "devil" or force out there leading us into temptation. Each of us is responsible for our own actions.

ANOTHER ANSWER:

People tend to "believe" in what their five physical senses can detect. And the "spirit realm" is normally undetectable to our fleshly senses. Whether it's our Creator or the angels He created, which are all "spirit beings" of a realm that we cannot see, hear, taste, touch or smell... man's carnal mind is naturally asleep to this invisible facet of life.

It's God's Divinely-inspired Word that reveals the spirit world to our minds... which in turn can open the minds of some to its reality. The minds of those who "believe" what those Words say.

God's servants know that devils exist... because they "believe" God's Words. It's such a simple statement that most carnal minds fail to grasp unless a person has the "spirit within him" [see Zech.12:1] awakened to see the Truth of those Words [see John 17:17].

And those Words say, 'Yes, there are devils [demons; unclean spirits]."

"You believe that God is One? You do well; even the demons believe, and they shudder." (James 2:19 MNT Montgomery New Testament)

Angels that rebelled against God and left their former estates that God appointed to them, who sinned [disobeyed God's Laws - I John 3:4]. Those Words tell us that this world, planet earth, is populated with them:

"Now the Great Dragon was thrown down -- that old Serpent, he who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was THROWN DOWN TO EARTH, AND HIS ANGELS WERE THROWN DOWN WITH HIM." (Rev.12:9 MNT)

"For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus [a spiritual condition of restraint], and committed them to chains of darkness, and reserved them for Judgment..." (II Peter 2:4 MNT)

"...the angels who did not keep their first domain but left their proper abode, are held by Him in blank darkness, in everlasting chains, in preparation for the Judgment of the Great Day." (Jude 1:6 MNT)

Jesus Christ speaks with Satan and his demons:

"'Be gone, Satan!' answered Jesus, 'for it is written, ''Thou must worship the LORD thy God, and Him only must thou serve.''" (Matt.4:10 MNT)

"...He [Jesus] had no sooner stepped out of the boat, than a man out of the tombs came to meet Him, a man with an unclean spirit... As he caught sight of Jesus from afar, he ran and knelt before Him, and with a shriek he cried out in a loud voice, 'Jesus, son of God Most High, what business have you with me? I adjure you by God, torment me not!' For Jesus was saying, 'Foul spirit, come out of the man.'..." (Mark 5:2-8 MNT).

In other words... You can't believe in God; and not believe in angels -- even the disobedient ones called "demons" or "devils." Because God created all that is... including the angels [though a full third of them rebelled against Him - see Rev.12:4].

Satan and millions of "fallen angels" [devils] have populated this earth from the beginning... and mankind has remained essentially blinded and ignorant to their existence. Jesus Christ cast out demons, daily, from possessed people when He walked the earth as a man. And He did it in a manner as common as anyone walking down the street.

Demons attack the human spirit... the mind... the human brain that controls the rest of the human body. They cause people to be deaf, mute and blind. They affect the functions of the human body, crippling people... causing epileptic fits... despair... hopelessness... suicide.

And because this world doesn't "believe" in "devils" or a spirit realm... [or God, whose Commandment demands man to worship Him, only] the modern day mega-buck business conglomerates of "medicine" were raised up as a god for man to worship and trust [doctors, health clinics, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, mandatory government health insurance]; designed to "heal" man of all of his maladies... for man to trust. Even though it "heals nothing"... but merely "treats symptoms" with more and more ever-changing "mind-altering drugs" that come with their own lists of side-effects that often negate their intended purpose.

Unbelieving man doesn't know he's dealing with the spirit realm. So he remains ignorant of "devils." He doesn't suspect or know that "devils" aren't affected by drugs and radical surgery.

Yet... "there are devils." God's Word reveals this Truth to the hearts and minds of those willing to "believe" His Words:

"For our Wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the despotisms, the empires, the rulers of this present [spiritual] darkness, the spirit-hosts of evil in the heavenly realm." (Eph.6:12 MNT)

If there is a God [and there is]... then there are also "devils"... because God reveals both Himself and the invisible spirit realm all around us to those willing to "believe" in His Divinely-inspired Word.

This present world is influenced and ruled by "devils." Look at the world that spiritually-blinded, "demon-guided, demon-worshiping" man has made for himself. The evidence is all around us in the strife, hatred, wars, famines, diseases, uncaring self-serving governments with weapons of mass destruction waiting to be released upon the earth. This is the work of "devils."

"Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but within they are ravening wolves. BY THEIR FRUITS YOU WILL KNOW THEM... every good tree bears good fruit, but a worthless tree bears bad fruit... Hence, it is by their fruit you will know them." (Matt.7:15-20 MNT)

Pandemic evil has come to fruition on planet earth. And by that fruit are "devils" made known to the hearts and minds of God's servants. And due to man's continued spiritual blindness [living in darkness] to this Truth... the "devils" will continue to rule men until Christ returns.

Yes there is a devil, very much there. Some also call it Satan.

Answer:

Since this question is "uncategorized"... answers and opinions from many sources are possible.

One such source is the Bible, which refers to the "Devil" within its covers. It also speaks of many "devils" [demons].

The "Author" of the Bible, Jesus Christ, tells us in our recorded eavesdrop on His prayer, that His Father's Word, the Bible, is "TRUTH" [John 17:17].

He also tells us in the Truth: "...I BEHELD SATAN [the Devil - Rev.12:9] AS LIGHTNING FALL FROM HEAVEN." (Luke 10:18)

According to this source, Jesus has had many dealings and conversations with the Devil since he was created... nor is He [and the world], immediately and prophetically, done with the Devil, yet.

"...he [a powerful angel] laid hold on the Dragon, that old serpent, WHICH IS THE DEVIL, and SATAN, and bound him a thousand years..." (Rev.20:2).

But, again... this is an uncategorized question. Many people don't believe the "TRUTH" when they read or hear it. Many question whether Jesus was ever in the world. In which case, the "Truth" is not a valid source for their answer.

So, without belief and faith in the "Truth" and its Author as one's source... the timely fulfillment of the prophecies contained therein will have to reveal the Devil to the world in due course.

"...I saw... unclean spirits... come out of the mouth of the Dragon [the Devil]... which go forth unto the KINGS OF THE EARTH and of THE WHOLE WORLD, to GATHER THEM TO THE BATTLE OF THAT GREAT DAY OF GOD ALMIGHTY... and he gathered them together into a place called... ARMAGEDDON." (Rev.16:13-16)

This world is coming to a showdown with this Devil... in whom some believe and some don't. Those who believe it, however, may be able to "arm" themselves against this global adversary. The "Truth" is a good source for this information, too.

The devil is a part of religious dogma. If you believe in a particular religion, it does not matter which, there will be the devil or its equivalent somewhere.
However if you do not believe in a religion then you also do not believe in a devil.

No. Long before modern cinema, people wanted something that could scare them, and this was the devil. After all, there are many books about fairies and goblins, but they do not exist either.
