Of course there is a difference. 18k means that it isn't pure gold but an alloy. 24k equals about 100% so 18k gold is actually an alloy that contains 100/24*18 % (75%) gold. So you will of course get (25%) less money for 1 ounce of 18k than for 1 ounce of 24k gold.
