Generally, there is a difference in the size of XL and 1XL in men's clothing. It will depend upon the company making the clothing items.

The numerical system cannot be compared to the size system of clothing. XXL means it is extra extra large. Extra extra large cannot be converted into a numerical quantity. The closest thing is 2XL, or twice extra large, which is XXL.

XL stands for eXtra Large while XL stands for eXtra Large and Tall. Therefore 2XL means eXtra eXtra large (XXL or 2Xl) and eXtra eXtra large and tall (XXLT or 2XlT). The difference in these two sizes are the height of the shirt, 2XLT is taller than 2XL.
