no, street racing is just that - street racing, it is done on public roads etc etc. drag racing is an official sport where u race at organised event at official drag strips.

Have a look on the ANDRA (Australian National Drag Racing Association Inc.) website (see the related link below) then scroll way down to the bottom and under competitors and click on the tracks link and then click on what ever the part of Australia is relevant to you, if you don't have anyone to ask. I cannot say for sure, however, I remember a car magazine, maybe Carcraft, doing an article on the Australian cars, and their owners, back in the late 70's, or early 80's. As I recall, there were a handful of guys that were trying to open a track. The Australian National Drag Racing Association, or ANDRA for short, is the primary drag racing sanctioning body in Australia. The organisation was created in 1973 for the more drag oriented members of the Australian Hot Rod Federation. Australian Drag racing speed records are listed from 1966 on.
