It is a one of the foods that should not be cooked in a microwave.
If you plan to steam it you can put it in a microwave safe container with about 1/2 cup of water. Cover the container and cook on high for 2 minutes. Any vegetable can be steamed this way in a microwave.

∙ 11y agoTrim the roots off the asparagus stalks and cut them into smaller chunks. Add salt and seasonings such as pepper or onion powder to taste. Add lemon juice and butter. Microwave on high settling for two to three minutes, stir and cook for another two to three minutes or until the asparagus is tender.
