It really depends on the mattress and the sheets, but my guess would be no.
No, not really.
A mattress set usually costs about $900.00 or more. It depends on the quality of the brand and if it is a big name brand. A mattress can also cost more if it is bought from a furniture store than online.
A thick mattress pad can be really helpful if you think your bed isn't soft enough. It can help extend the length of your mattress by covering up the bumps and inconsistencies.
There is really not a day where you will find a mattress not for sale. You can even get a brand new mattress for sale with $2.95 shipping at Overstock.com. (:
This really depends on the type of bed and size of the mattress. The mattress alone ranges in price from $89 for the cheapest twin to $1400 for the most expensive king size.
Its really hard to say which will last longer between a mattress and a matress pad. Since mattresses only have a lifespan of 5 to ten years typically I would say matress pads because they don't wear out like a mattress does.
A good mattress... well that really depends on the user. Some people like soft, others firm. Buy a good quality mattress that is flippable, which will make it comfortable without dips for a number of years. Also, buy from a company with a 30 day return, so that if it doesn't work out, you will not get stuck. In my experience, warranty calls do not really work out since it is the mattress representative who comes, not the bed company.
It depends on how much you intend to bend the mattress and the type of mattress. Many modern mattress manufacturers offer king- and (less commonly) queen-sized mattresses with hinges in their frames to allow them to be temporarily bent to, say be moved to the second story of a home through a tight stairwell. With smaller mattress sizes, you really should not bend the mattress beyond 10 or 15 degress (and even that is stretching it for some brands).
You will be able to find really nice latex pads to put on your mattress at Overstock.com. They offer many different types with incredible prices.
For some people a firm mattress can result in better sleep and no more back pains, but that really depends on you. You can find one at a reasonable price at Sleepy's
