It could be major or minor. You will have to have the codes read to know possible causes.
You can take your car auto parts place like autozone, hilow, etc, they should have a portable computer to attached to your car and it will give them a code for the reason of the check engine light is on. It could be something minor , but either way your best bet is to take it to a mechanic that you trust, that has the tools to identify the problem. Don't let it stay on to long or it could turn into a major problem.
it means take the car to a dealer ship and get rid of it lol... no have a system computer check on your vehicle it can be anything from low oil to a major problem
take it to autozone they will check for free. wolverine Probably some problem with the smog controls. Probably nothing too major. If the service engine light is flashing, it's probably major.
You have either a major or minor engine problem, or a bad input or system monitoring sensor someplace. You need to check for trouble codes to find out why. how do I pull the code is it in some control box under hood
It is your "check engine" light. It is telling you that something is wrong with the engine or engine controls. It could be minor or major. You will need to get the "codes" read to find out the problem. Use a code scanner to find out what is wrong.
You risk turning a minor problem into a major one. Get it looked at ASAP.
Check engine light is for telling you that there is A problem with the fuel injection or emissions system, Most of the time there is no major problem to really wory about. ETS is the light for the Enhanced Traction system (traction control) This is not A vital component of your car.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Both of those said, I suggest you take your car to A repair shop to have it checked out to determine the problem.
Remove the battery cables for 5 minutes, should do it. Then the computer will reset and relearn after driving again. If a major fault was present before, it will return via the check engine light. If you need an inspection, then unhooking the battery for 5 minutes and driving maybe 20-40 miles and then going for inspection may do the trick. There is a small window where the check engine light hasn't come on yet and the IM monitors are mostly ready for inspection.....just before the check engine light comes on again. It will pass, in this window. But when the check engine light comes on again, it will not pass.
The check engine light coming on usually means that there is a problem in the emissions system. (including something as simple as your fuel cap being loose) If you take the car to Auto Zone, or Checker or any of the other major parts houses, they will read the computer codes for you at no charge. This will tell you what has failed or is being problematic.
A possible reason the engine dies when the oil light comes on in a 1999 Ford Escort could be because it is in major need of an oil change. There also could be an oil pressure problem because the oil pump may need to be replaced.
yes make sure to check the correct color code on both models of the 5 wires coming out of the engine so you dont fry your reg
Take the car to an major auto parts store and they will check your check engine codes.
