I am not sure exactly what the problem is. however the ps3 slims have a habit of overheating and if it has overheated , it may have damaged the console and resulted in undesired operation. some other reasons may be a faulty disk or the disk may be damaged or dirty.

Just delete the mic on your ps3, restart the system and reconnect the headset. I had the same problem and it worked for me. :)
