But yes , there is some evidence to suggest that you can fool your brain a little bit by chewing, not just gum, but anything like a ball of paper.
Your salivary glands are stimulated setting in process a motion much alike to the one when you really eat food. The sugar and flavoring agent in the gum adds to the effect.
So you may feel a bit of hunger relief though you can't fool your body for long that way.

∙ 14y agoAs your stomach is used to swallowing after you chew, it doesn't help you appetite. I would recommend eating a big meal before you chew gum.

It is said that gum is supposed to help you eat less. I guess in a way it does because you are chewing like you are eating something. But I don't really think it works that good though.
