What do you mean how to you change a negative battery wire... the wires itself or the connector that connects it to the battery... the thing that holds to the battery is just like 80 cents at Napa and installs in seconds... the wires is more difficult... but just trace the wires down that needs replaced and make all proper connections.
Disconnect negative battery terminal. Remove glove box and pull the connector off the side of the airbag.. Done.. Also for a car seat unplug connector under seat.. "big red thing".... Put power back on and all ready to go...

The first thing I would check on, would be the battery not holding charge(bad battery), The battery terminal should be tight and VERY clean, Alternator not putting out enough juice to keep the battery charged. Or the starter is weak and looking for a replacement..

I use a stiff wire brush to clean them, then put a thin coat of Vaseline on them to help prevent future corrosion.
More likely then any thing is the connector on the steering column is bad or the switch on column is. Remove and clean it with a good electrical connection cleaner and test with a meter.
