Let's start with a definition of life.
Life is the sum of the distinguishing phenomena of organisms, esp. metabolism, growth, reproduction, and adaptation to environment. Or, it is the course of existence or sum of experiences and actions that constitute a person's existence.
Secondly lets define "immortal".
Immortal means capable of indefinite growth or division. Used of cells in culture. Or, immortal means not subject to death: immortal deities; the immortal soul.
We will assume that by "physical" you mean you'd like to be in a body that resembles your human body rather than a chain reaction of ever multiplying cells. By immortality you may mean that in that physical body you would live forever, for a limitless time, past any measure of time that exists in the universe. There is a way to live for a VERY long time, but only supernatural beings can live beyond measures of time. They have left there physical bodies, if they started out with one, and have gone into states of pure thought. Out of respect we refer to these being as "immortal deities". They are states of thought or consciousness, apart from creation.
So it is not possible for a human being to live in bodily form forever. In theory we could alter alter ourselves genetically in order to maximize bodily life. We might be able to live for a few hundred years, but probably not longer than that.
