Themes are the only ways of changing the background color. It cannot be changed manually as such.
This is known as Liner option in Google. To get rid of it or delete Highlights- 1.Click on the highlight, to open the “Highlight Toolbox”. 2.Click on the “X” icon to delete highlights.
