The Apollo program was originally meant to run up to Apollo 40, by which time there would be a permanent base on the Moon. However this was changed early on and the missions cut back to Apollo 21. The final mission was subsequently cancelled.
Apollo 20 was then cancelled in January 1970 and Apollo's 18 and 19 were cancelled in September the same year.
