The continent of Antarctica is considered a desert because there is so little -- about five percent -- humidity there.

"-a system formed by the interaction of living organisms with each other and with the physical and chemical factors of the environment in which they live."

The only interactive ecosystems in the area of Antarctica are those locations where the land and the sea meet, and most of the creatures are sea animals, not land animals.
