When I hear this, or a similar, question asked I hear Angels singing the song "Here We Go Again." No, Christian Baptism is not, and has never been, an occult practice. Jesus Christ, himself, was Baptized and instituted the Sacrament; therefore, it is a "Christian" Practice (see Matthew 28:18-20). Even the author of the Anti-Catholic Bible Roman Catholicism, Loraine Boettner, dogmatically states that Christ instituted the Sacrament of Baptism (p.189).
Here we have the classic similis hoc ergo propter hoc (Similar to this...therefore because of this) fallacy. Some ancient occultists and pagans may have had a practice that resembled baptism, somewhere in the timeline of history, but that does not mean that the Sacrament stems from those origins. To say that it does, is to imply that Christ Jesus was somehow involved with the Occult.
