I have gotten rid of stage fright by learning to like it. I have enjoyed doing plays, singing, and band on stage when I was 10. Another way is to not think of the people that are staring at me. If you make a mistake I have learned to play along like I have done something right.

If you immerse yourself in your role and think about what you are doing, rather than thinking about the people who are watching you do it, you should be able to overcome stage fright.

If it is something worth-while like over-coming stage fright, it is really scary at first, but you feel great once it's over with because you know that you over-came your fear. Later on, if you keep up with the attempts to perform in front of people on stage, you will be confident on going on stage eventually. (stage fright is just an example. try to apply the courage thing to other stuff.)
