At one time there were raccoons on Barbados - the Barbados raccoon, a subspecies of the common raccoon - but it became extinct in 1964. There are, however, raccoons in the Florida Keys and on some Mexican islands. The best known is the Cozumel raccoon which is critically endangered.
Raccoons have been hunted for their fur for a long time. They have not been in any danger of extinction before, but, if the want for raccoon fur increases and no protective measures are taken, I suppose they could go extinct.
In a natural habitat yes u do, everything is important to the circle of life for example if wolves went extinct the elk, moose, deer and others population would grow to be so big there wouldn't be enough food and a lot of em would die. Wolves usually only kill weak or sick ones, which actually strenthens the herd. Raccoons have a place among this too, if one animal becomes extinct it can make a bunch of others extinct or endangered! DONT KILL RACCOONS! -Firepaw100
that's a good question.. the habit of eating certain bamboo and only nursing one baby is something that would cause any animal to be extinct.. "save the pandas" - well they really have no chance unless we do everything for them so why bother..
No, raccoons have but one life.
An extinct volcano is one that no longer has any volcanic activity, i.e. no magma running throughout its structure.
Animals go extinct for many reasons, but the main one being loss of habitat.
No, birds and raccoons do not mix. Birds are one of the prey items of a raccoon.
Raccoons generally stay in their own territory.
27 raccoons are used just for one fur coat
Racoons are not considered endangered. In most places they are over-populated and suffer from many diseases thanks to the poor fur market. Racoons are protected by law in most states and there are certain hunting seasons in which they can be taken.
