Their seems NO easy way to replace the rear plugs on these G.M. 3.1 cars. BUT you can unbolt the motor mounts that are located on the front of the engine and with your pry bar between the firewall & motor pry back and stick a board or some other kind of wedge in there. This will gain you around 4 more inches of room and you can use a ratchet with a swivel to get the plugs out!!
how do i change spark plugs on a 2000 hevy Monte Carlo
The Malibu engine has several freeze plugs. They are on both sides of the block and designed to pop to keep the block from freezing.
There is an engine misfire, probably spark plugs issue.
Use a 12" ext. With a universal (swivel)
down below on both sides of engine!!
i would like to know what would cause the miss firing in Chevy Malibu
You rock the engine forward to gain access to the rear plugs.
Check your coil pack or the spark plugs.
look in your owners manual but usually at 100,000 anymore.
I have a 2000 Malibu 3.1,and i found the best way to change the plugs, in front you have plenty of room, in back if you take the 3 bolts on coil plate out and disconnect wiring. the back plugs are easier to get to!! remove coils and plate, on lumina 3.1 you can tilt engine forward, but on Malibu 3.1 you cant move engine forward!! firing order is ---1-2-3-4-5-6-----135 in back 246 in front.
The plugs are located under the plate on top of the engine. You will need to remove the 4 bolts holding the plate. The plugs are located right under. There are no wires on these plugs.
did you gap your plugs right!!
