I've been researching forwarding services, including Japanese companies. There are several of them:
There are other services, but I can't say if they are trustworthy. I personally used opas.com and parcl.com. Both services provided excellent customer service, I really enjoyed communication process at parcl, where my forwarder was Patric. He was extremely helpful plus offered very reasonable shipping cost.
So if you prefer corporate style of communication and feel ok with b2c company, then opas.com is good for you. But if you feel more comfortable dealing with another person and being able to customize your delivery order, then parcl.com would a perfect solution for you.
The US Postal Service does not use abbreviations for other countries. To mail a letter or package to Japan, write "Japan" on the last line of the address. Correction: The country name should be in all caps ("JAPAN").
