Answering a question will only earn you a contribution point. Trust points are earned when other people value your answers and vote them up. There is no difference currently between answering featured questions and any other question on the site.

There's no real point of asking - then answering your ownquestion ! If you already knew the answer - why post the question in the first place. The whole point of this (and any other forum) is that you seek answers from other people to the questions you need answering. No it is not supposed to be rude when answering a question. However some times people have been known to contribute answers that are inappropriate If this happens you can point it out to a supervisor or wikianswers.
