Is there any possible cause or explanation as to why a 17-year-old male would still be affected by motion sickness in the car enough that it gives him a headache and can cause him to vomit?

You need to see a doctor. You could have an inner ear problem. Sometimes the doctor will put a plastic shunt in one or both ears (my 18 year old nephew had this done and it doesn't hurt). It's up to the doctor to diagnose this. Meanwhile you can get medications for motion sickness and more people have it than you realize. HINTS: Never sit in the back seat of a car and sit up front with the window rolled down slightly. When flying try to get a seat behind the wing of the plane (less turbulence.) If you have to take a ferry or are on a cruise then they provide seasick pills for you. There is one that is a Chinese Herb that some cruise lines carry and it works like magic. Can't remember the name of them. It doesn't cause drowsiness and gets rid of that seasick feeling quickly. Don't forget to see your doctor and have your ears check out because your equilibrium is off. Good luck!
