I've found that the only thing that has helped long term and had any even immediate effect is regular daily (rather than the 3 days a week so often suggested by the media) exercise of at least 30 minutes combining strength training with cardio.
Shortening study time to the "pomodoro method" (45 minutes on / 15 minutes off) has also helped with some form of light physical activity during the fifteen minutes off.
