1) Yes. You press start, and go to "Pokemon" then you select whoever is in front and say "Switch" then swap its position with another Pokemon in your party.
2) Yes. During battle, you may change by choosing the "PKMN" option, and picking a new Pokemon to send into battle.
3) Yes. At a PC, you may deposit a Pokemon from your party, and then withdraw a Pokemon from its box.
4) No. Once you pick your starter Pokemon you are stuck with that choice. You can ask a friend to trade Pokemon with you, if that is your desire.
