Yes, there are new characters that show up in every additional season in Degrassi the Next Generation as well as "Degrassi."

In Season 2, Joey Jeremiah returned to the Degrassi series. He had been a main character during the previous Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High TV series. Additionally Season 2 brought on new characters such as Craig Manning, Ellie Nash, Daphne Hatzilakos and Angela Jeremiah.

Season 3 did not introduce anyone new to the main cast however it did introduce new recurring characters such as Rick Murray, Dylan Michalchuk, Alex Nuñez, Jay Hogart and Chris Sharpe.

Season 4 introduces new characters such as Darcy, Liberty's brother Danny and Matt Oleander, Matt eventually becoming a student teacher.

Season 5 only introduces a new character named Derek Haig, he's a recurring character that is a primary character but wasn't then considered a main character.

Season 6 introduces Mia Jones and Jesse Stefanovic.

Season 7 introduces Holly J. Sinclair, Damien Hayes and Jane Vaughn.

Season 8 introduces Alli Bhandari, Connor, K.C, Clare, Leia and Blue.

Season 9 introduces Declan, Fiona, Dave Turner and Jenna.

Season 10 which features the show dropping "The Next Generation" title and being named as just "Degrassi," it introduces Drew, Eli, Bianca, Adam, Wesley and Miss Oh.

Season 11 introduces Jake Martin, Imogen and Katie Matlin. The remaining half of the season introduces Mo, Tristan, Zig, Maya and Tori.
