no , there is an island where you can play normally on sims. just go and click the menu for neigborhood and instead of clicking alone on island thingy - whatever you normally click on , click the arrow till you get onto the island , which has a picture of an island on it and clikc on that! soz i forgot twhat the options are called , but you hopefully get it right.
