depends on how you use it and if you know how to tattoo people sometimes if you leave thick ink there it will hurt the person and it will soak in too deep.
i would prefer using thicker ink for shading in dark spots for example the eyes and nose of a skull and then thinner ink to make it look more like a pencil shading :)

No, you should only use ink specified for tattooing. Any other type of ink may not be compatible with skin and could cause infection.
