The one I built and I'm currently using to answer this incomplete question is more than OK. People have told me that I have a super computer, to which I've replied that it's not a super computer but it's pretty darn close.
These days a laptop can do anything that a desktop can do plus with the added benefit of being mobile. I built a super fast top-of-the-line desktop 1 year ago, the laptop i bought for half the price 6 months ago was faster. Therefore there is only one reason left to build or buy a desktop and that is slightly cheaper components and price. For me, I will never buy or build another desktop for myself.
right click on desktop and properties desktop customize desktop and select icon to view it on your desktop and click OK

If you are unsure, there is a company called Overclockers who will build a gaming PC for you from individual components, or allow you to select a pre-built desktop PC. This means you are able to see exactly what goes into the PC, and exactly what you are getting for your money.
Right click on desktop>properties>desktop>click customize desktop>click web tray>uncheck lock desktop items then click ok..
